The Narrative

The Jupiter Shipwreck was first discovered in 1987 when lifeguard Peter Leo noticed old anchors and cannon on the seafloor just outside the Jupiter inlet off the east coast of Florida. Soon, Leo and his partners were bringing up very valuable treasures and a lengthy legal battle ensued, pitting the treasure hunters against then very bureaucratic and obstructive archaeologists at the Division of Historical Resources inside Florida's Department of State.

Between the permitting delays and legal issues, some work was accomplished over the years. For the most part, the work had been performed using inadequate equipment and archaic methods, but it had uncovered tantalizing clues that showed just how special this shipwreck was. She is believed to be the San Miguel de Archangel, lost in 1659 carrying valuable treasure, some very rare coinage and some very important Spanish royals.

Today, through a new age of cooperation between professional salvage groups and state cultural resource managers,  the work is continuing, and we will finally know the whole story behind the shipwreck at Jupiter Inlet. The ownership and permissions are secured. and the proper equipment and methodologies are in place to finally uncover the ship's 370 year old secrets.

The crew of life-long friends and treasure hunters, who have spent decades of time and piles of cash to get here, have added a surprising twist. They are inviting YOU to come and be a part of the discovery! In the very near future, there will be many opportunities for regular folks to win or purchase a chance to dive for (and most likelyFIND) ancient Spanish treasure from the shipwreck.
