After 8 longYears, we are finally fully permitted again

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

It is amazing to me that in the 17 years I've been involved with the Jupiter Wreck, we have only had all three permits needed to work in place at the same time for about five of those years. We are req

uired to obtain an archaeological

salvage permit from Florida Dept. of State, an environmental easement from Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection, as well as a dredge / fill permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. All of this is required even AFTER we had already fought for and won an Admiralty Arrest on the wreck in federal court.

Obtaining any one of these permits is a feat in itself, having all three active at the same time has, until recent times, been difficult to say the least. Through a new era of cooperation between salvors and state officials, we finally have all three permits in place and are ready to dive on the shipwreck for the first time in over 8 years. The excitement here is palatable, and it won't be long until we are filling this blog with videos and photos of shipwreck treasures and the people who found them

Stay tuned, you may even get the chance to come find some of the treasure yourself!!!
